SOMA meets three of the IMPACT Requirements: Individual Responsibility, Materials, and Charitable Proceeds. 

SOMA was founded in 2004 as an all-women design team who sought to create an intimates brand that would provide women that perfect fit. In hopes to never compromise comfort, SOMA’s mission is to provide all the necessities and fit underwear for women. Yet, beyond their products, SOMA has an overarching sustainability and charitable mission to support women and girls all over the globe who are in need. 

By partnering with various initiatives and nonprofits, SOMA commits to sustainability and charitable missions. They partner with The Bra Recyclers®, an organization that aims to recycle, reuse, and upcycle bras before they are donated through the Soma® Bra Donation. This partnership allows women worldwide to receive bras through over 100 nonprofits. The bras that aren’t able to be upcycled are recycled for textiles and other uses—reducing waste and prompting sustainability. 

The Soma® Bra Donation is an initiative by SOMA to restore dignity, self-esteem, self-worth, and independence to women in need. Since 2010, this initiative has been supporting survivors and women worldwide who have faced domestic violence or homelessness through the over 2 million bra donations.
