New York to Kathmandu

Hello Everyone.

My name is Saroj Bhandari. Warning!!! English is my second language and I have never done a blog in my life. To add the cherry on top, I am an engineer who absolutely hates writing. If I hate writing, why the heck am I writing this ?? Well here is why.

Loooooong story short…Society of Nepalese in America had provided me the opportunity to conduct a fundraiser 5K Run4Nepal over the summer. With the help of the local students of Branford, the fundraiser was organized to help with the aid work in Nepal after the country was hit with two devastating Earthquake. All the funds generated from the event will contribute towards rebuilding Bal Skichya Prathamik Bidhalaya, Jamne, Thokarpa, Sindhupalchowk, Nepal. The school will consist of Kindergarten, class 1, 2, 3 and office room. I am staying in Nepal for next 3 months and will be working side by side with a non profit in Nepal called The Survivors. During my stay, I will try very hard to get this project done within the time frame.

I will try to post one blog a week to make updates on the progress of the project. I am also carrying signed run4nepal posted by our runner in my luggage.

I don’t know if its extreme optimism to build a school within 3 months considering the current condition in Nepal. However, if someone asked me..Can you Really get that done? I would say….

YES YOU CAN !!!!
